Ten for Friday
I’ve been doing a bi-weekly link roundup for co-workers at Mother. Stolen mostly from my Twitter stream, Facebook news feed and @superlau77, it’s way to share and bookmark some of the interesting things I’ve seen. It may take the place of the Inbox of Immaturity – I’ve really grown up since 2005 – and bring some routine to posting so I don’t abandon this blog for another few months. Here they are:
1. Grant M.’s take on the power of secret messages
2. Cougar Town cameos (smart, cheap promo tactic)
3. Replace face (see Mickey Rourke)
4. Small demons creates a “storyverse”/social network for books (get a beta invite)
5. Generation X doesn’t want to hear it
6. Infographic for Game of Thrones fans
7. The Elusive Big Idea
8. MTV & Millennials
9. Gauging the Mood of People
10. Ji Lee’s Word As Image:
Inbox of Immaturity: The Art of the Tease
Man, since that New Year’s Resolution to write a post per week, week’s are starting to fly by. This isn’t the most thoughtful post, but I can’t help it that I woke up and all I could think about was this clip (that was featured on The Soup). So I brought back an old staple, the IOI, in order to present this gem – and a few others. Without further ado, Ray-J teaches up about the art of the tease (at about 2:30 in):
More stuff I’m digging this week:
- Conan spending NBC’s money
- Five year-old drummer doing System of a Down
- Parks & Recreation + Questlove + Wu-Tang
- Kind of like the Jersey Shore meets Pokemon (NSFW)
- And finally, a Jersey Shore compilation
Have a great weekend. Go Jets!
Happy Holidays
Dear reader (not to be confused with Dear Leader), thanks so much for spending some time with my words and pictures, but mostly words, this year. It was a fun one. Hope your holiday is filled with lots of happiness…however you derive it.

Inbox of Immaturity is Back…Kinda
Sure, it’s nice to have a handful of time-wasting links in one place; however, I started to find that by the time I posted them the links were old news. Therefore, I think I’m going to resurrect the Inbox of Immaturity on Twitter.
But given it’s a snowy Friday morning, I figured I’d give you a couple cozy videos. Plus, I wanted to ask (in an accusatory way): How have none of my “friends” told me that these exist? Natalie and Rashida. Come on. Sure, there’s funnier stuff on the site but seriously. My favorite of the three:
As for one of the best series of videos on FoD, Zach G. is back with his third installment of “Between Two Ferns.” This time with John Hamm. So you know, it gets a little inappropriate at times but the “Websites” part is classic.
The NBA Is (Way) Younger than John McCain
Between work, jamming to get my Age of Conversation chapter done, running, NBA Playoffs and brainstorming excuses, I’ve had limited time to scour the Internet for things that make you go ha. (Yes, that’s a C&C Music Factory reference.) So, some of these are old and coldplayed out but I hope a complete waste of time in a good way.
First, let’s kick it off with some links connected to my excuse. Here’s a little action about declaring for the NBA Draft (via kenyatta via kottke) as well as an NBA nickname generator. (I’m Seth “Margarine” Gaffney.)
Second, for any of you players or playettes going out this weekend, take a quick look at this text dating primer. For those staying in watching reruns of SBTB the College Years, this Onion article is all you.
Third, and getting a bit grosser, peep yet another instant Nick Thune classic on FoD. And I dare you to tell me that Nick doesn’t look Palek from HBO’s Tell Me You Love Me. That makes me want to pull a Sue Simmons (via @akispicer).
Fourth and lastly, I’ve rather enjoyed this site: Things Younger than Republican Candidate (and Oh, Did I Forget to Mention “War Hero”) John McCain (via avin on Fallon Planning Blog).
